Current state: in service
HLR8509 was built by Forges Usines et Fonderies de et à Haine-St-Pierre in 1956.

History
The HLR85 series were mainly used in Antwerp and Monceau for shunting operations. With the delivery of the HLR83, all HLR85 at Monceau were moved to Antwerp-Dam.
In 1975, the diesel engine was rebuilt by Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) in Ghent.
Decommissioning
The first locomotives were taken out of service in 1997 after some damage. Partly due to the arrival of the HLD77-78 in 1999, they were permanently taken out of service. In 2002, the first locomotives were scrapped.
At the association
The HLR8509 always shunted in Antwerp-Dam until its closure. After this, it was sold to the association. To this day, the HLR8509 is still running and is mainly used for shunting in Baasrode-North as well as for infra-trains.
A repainting of the locomotive is underway.
